As well as reading, we offer a numeracy programme to our learners in prison. In January 2024, we launched our new Count Me In numeracy materials.

Around two thirds of people in prison have ‘entry level’ maths skills, meaning that their numeracy level is below that expected of a child leaving primary school.

As a result, they may struggle with basic daily tasks that involve numbers, for example, telling the time, understanding medication and managing their spending.

How it works

Our numeracy programme is based on the same principles as our reading programme.

Learners will work with a peer mentor on a one to one basis. They will undertake short, regular sessions at a time, place and frequency of their choosing.

There are no exams, and no classrooms.

If you would like to know more about our numeracy programme, we would love to hear from you.
